I'm delayed with everything. This is my belated Saturday Centus post, in which participants write a 100 word short story around a prompt given by Jenny Matlock (prompt in bold).
The curtain parted and opened a window into another world. Although the play was about ancient Rome, the setting was Elizabethan England. Would the Elizabethan audience have taken to togas? Of course they wouldn't! They wanted characters and settings with which they could identify. The genius of Shakespeare doesn't lie in the plots he dreamed up (he didn’t always dream them up either). It lies in the fact that he wrote multi-layered plays which were capable of entertaining all levels of society at one sitting. The curtain closed and it was back to the present again - until next time!
Saturday Centus is hosted by Jenny Matlock
