I am very cold right now. I haven't posted for a few days. I think my inspiration is frozen. My fingers certainly are.
I posted every day in the aftermath of my bereavement and even when the funeral ceremonies were going on. And once they were over, it was as if I fell asleep for a few days. The schools opened late after the Christmas/new year period. After being opened for a week, they are closed again. Now, in addition to dry cold, we have thick fog. Very dangerous.
My husband is just getting over the matter of his father's death. He had quite a difficult time over the last month. Spending time with his father in the hospital. Coping with the work involved in a death. Meeting all his relatives after a long time. Last weekend, he got very tense, and it was obvious he was suffering a lot mentally. In a way, I was glad that he went back to work. I thought that maybe a return to the normal routine was when he needed.
Yesterday, he had his Sunday off, and for some unexplained reason, didn't go to his office today. In the early evening, he received a telephone call. It seems that one of the employees of his department tried to commit suicide today by jumping off a high building. Now Yash has gone to his university to see what is happening and what he can do.
His university is in the next city, 80 kilometres away. The fog is very thick, and he has to go by train. Tomorrow is a holiday. God only knows when or how Yash will get back safely. He really didn't need this trouble today. Neither did I.
There are so many problems in my husband's life right now. How can he help anyone else? I don't know.
I'll just wait and watch.....

He'll get through it. We all do. May not be fun, but any situation is only temporary.
ReplyDeleteSometimes there are the dark periods in our lives. And as they say, bad thing come in three, or at least they do not come alone. I am sure thing will turn around for your husband, although I feel great compassion for his situation. It is not easy to deal with the death and the imminence of it, the way he has been forced to.
ReplyDeleteMany hugs,
Zuzana
Oh gaelikaa! It's been a year, hasn't it? I've been posting all month on NABLOPOMO, and yesterday I almost didn't, but pushed myself thinking 7 more days! Depression is hard on everyone, sucide even worse. Just know you're in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteOur hearts are with you. All cases are different, of course but sometimes when a person (Yash) is depressed it's best if there's something they can do to help others.
ReplyDeleteIn your case it sounds as if you just need a rest, and some warmth and sunshine. This sounds trivial, but are you drinking plenty of warm tea/liquids? I've read in health newsletters that something that simple can help a lot. That plus Yash and the children getting back to their normal routines.
Thank you for taking the time to write.
I don't know if it's the time to tell my story but...
ReplyDeleteMy brother's son Jeff's Best Man to be at his wedding, committed suicide.
Interestingly, he was leaving the building at work when someone caught up with him. Was having a work problem. So he went back to work, cleared up the problem, went across the street & jumped off the building.
There was no Best Man. Only a candle & picture of the man.
It's cold here too this morning, but thankfully no fog. I decided to take my own advice. I'm not a coffee or tea drinker, but I'm sipping some warm water and am making a pot of soup. It does help lift my spirits and get me moving. Every little bit helps.
ReplyDeleteThat is most unfortunate and just typical of the way life throws things at us in multiples.
ReplyDeleteI hope that the fog lifts and you hear from your husband very soon. He is obviously a very caring man and probably functions best when he is coping with a crisis.
Nuts in May
Yash is fortunate to have you for support. Do try to rest and find some time just for you.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry life is handing you tough stuff these days. Sending best thoughts your way.
ReplyDeleteIt always seems to happen that problems arrive at the same time. They never spread themselves out over a period of time making it easier to cope. No doubt Yash will cope with it but it takes it's toll.
ReplyDeleteIt's very cold here now too and these houses are not built for warmth.
Take care xx
My love and prayers are with you all...
ReplyDeleteMaybe getting involved in helping others will help him cope better with this situation. Certainly the fog (as much as I love it because I'm rather melancholy) is not really raising spirits... I'll send a bit of warmth even if only virtual! :-) Take care!
ReplyDeleteTake a month off and see what you miss? So sorry to hear of your family's loss. Everywhere I look I hear sad news these days. I always try and remind myself that life has seasons, and even the difficult seasons will pass eventually.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this, sounds like hard times all around.
